Rated as outstanding by Ofsted just two years after opening, it’s an exciting time to join us at Isaac Newton Academy. In September 2012 Isaac Newton Academy opened with its inaugural cohort of 180 year 7 students. The school will grow, year on year, to become an 11-18 academy of 1250 students with specialist status in mathematics and music. In 2014 the primary phase of the academy opened to 90 reception-aged children. This too will grow each year, until full in September 2020.

We are looking to appoint an inspirational Music Teacher who shares our belief in the highest standards of academic attainment in a comprehensive setting. This is a rare opportunity to be centrally involved in establishing an outstanding school from its early stages.

The ideal candidate will:

  • be a great teacher
  • achieve outstanding student attainment outcomes
  • possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of Ilford residents.

At Isaac Newton Academy every student is a musician.  At Key Stage 3 students receive two hours of music teaching per week, one hour of core music and one hour of group instrumental tuition. They are taught in form groups and are not grouped according to current attainment. During core music lessons we workshop a variety of styles of music from all over the world.

Staff are provided with responsive and tailored CPD, including weekly off-timetable training sessions, an in-house leadership course for middle and senior leaders and an array of extra opportunities all geared towards your career development.

At Isaac Newton Academy, behaviour is managed centrally. There are set guidelines about what is expected of our students and Behaviour Working Parties, which allow our teachers to concentrate on teaching and our students to focus on learning.

As a teacher at Isaac Newton, you will be part of Ark, an international charity and one of the UK's most successful multi-academy trusts, with a network of 35 schools in 4 locations across the country.  Benefits of being part of the Ark network include:

  • A salary 2.5% higher than the main scale teacher salaries
  • Twice as many training days as standard and network-wide events with Ark colleagues, held by the best minds in education
