At Freebrough Academy we are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher to join our committed and motivated Creative Arts team to contribute to our journey to outstanding.   

The creative and performing arts department offers a range of subjects including art, drama and photography. We are looking to reintroduce music as a subject at KS3 during 2017-18.    

To be successful, you should have experience of teaching at both KS3 and KS4 and be prepared to establish music as a KS4 offer. You should also have the drive and passion to develop an engaging curriculum and establish a wide and varied extracurricular programme.    

The faculty has great success in engaging the community in events throughout the year, including productions and showcase evenings. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate how they can add value to these events and develop community engagement further.    

It would be an advantage if you are able to provide instruction and lessons for a range of different instruments to develop our capacity, demonstrating how you will contribute to inspiring our students to reach their potential in the arts and across the Academy.    

A retention incentive is available for the successful candidate. This is a £1,000 payment at the end of the first and second years of employment with the Academy. A relocation package of up to £1,000 is also available.

Freebrough Academy is a secondary Academy with 800+ students, located in the village of Brotton, a picturesque village surrounded by the beautiful green backdrop of the North York Moors National Park and the stunning Heritage Coast.

On the border between Redcar and Cleveland and North Yorkshire, the Academy is approximately 2.5 miles (4 km) south-east of Saltburn-by-the-Sea, 12 miles (19 km) east of Middlesbrough and 14 miles (23 km) north-west of Whitby.

Freebrough Academy is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school.

The Academy has embraced a period of challenge since the Ofsted inspection judgement in April 2018 and continues on its programme of school improvement. Led by a stable, effective Board of Trustees and with support from the CEO; the interim Principal and staff have made significant improvements which were acknowledged by a positive monitoring visit in September 2018.
