Job overview

Teacher of Music Required for September

Teacher main scale

Are you a Music teacher who lives and breathes their subject? Do you want to join a large, successful Performing Arts faculty with two experienced Music specialists and a full time technician?  We are looking to recruit an energetic, resilient and enthusiastic teacher of Music who is passionate about their subject and inspirational to their students.

We are a friendly, happy, vibrant 11-18 Academy, serving a multi-cultural community, rich with ethnic and linguistic diversity. We have recently completed a £12.5 million refurbishment, including a new purpose built Theatre and Dance studio. The Music Department has 4 specialist classrooms with 25 Apple iMac computers running Logic Studio, Sibelius and Pro tools, 3 practice rooms and a Recording studio.

The Performing Arts (Music, Drama and Dance) faculty is strong and the team work collaboratively and provide excellent high quality opportunities for students. Our Music Department has one foot in both camps - straddling both the academic and vocational areas of the curriculum, providing pupils with the skills necessary to access the highest level of qualification. Pupils in Music consistently achieve well across GCSE, A level and BTEC pathways.

The ideal candidate will be a first class practitioner with sound subject knowledge and a hunger to deliver new creative ideas. The ability to teach Musical Theatre and/or part of the instrumental provision in the school would be desirable. Experience of teaching the BTEC Music pathway at Level 2 or 3 or A level Music Technology would be advantageous.

Applications from both NQTs and experienced staff are welcome.
