We are seeking a passionate and innovative Teacher of Music to teach Music at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in a vibrant 11 - 16 Catholic Secondary School in Wakefield. St Thomas a Becket's believes that music education is essential to develop the whole child as part of the curriculum.  

St Thomas a Becket's is looking for a candidate who has the relevant teaching qualification and the ideal candidate will have a Degree in Music alongside their teaching qualification.  

This role is suitable for an NQT and salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. 

Teacher in Charge status is available with TLR up to 2.2 for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate. 

The successful candidate will have an excellent knowledge of the National Curriculum and will be able to plan innovative and engaging lessons that will meet the needs of children with a variety of abilities. You must also be approachable, and be able to inspire, engage and enthuse students in their love and understanding of music. 

St Thomas a Becket's hopes to offer inspirational music lessons and peripatetic instrumental lessons to all our students across all years, irrespective of their background or status. 

Here at Becket's we have also provided a range of extra-curricular opportunities to students to experience music through a programme of after school groups, concert performances, music trips and tours etc. 

Our catchment is truly diverse in every sense and the successful candidate will be able to engage, inspire, stretch and support pupils across the full spectrum of our pupil community, including the most gifted and those with the largest gaps in learning and/or working significantly below age expectation. 

St Thomas à Beckets is a vibrant 11-16 Catholic School which is academically, socially and culturally diverse. We have an outstanding record of pastoral provision and a sustained track record of strong KS4 outcomes across all abilities.
