We are seeking to appoint an inspirational classroom practitioner to this exciting new position. 

This role would suit a candidate looking for a new challenge or career progression.  Bohunt is an innovative school seeking to better support those students more vulnerable to transition between primary and secondary phases.  This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact in the lives of young people.  The successful candidate will play a central role in the development and delivery of this provision.

We are seeking a qualified specialist Primary teacher with literacy expertise and equipped with a passion for working with our more vulnerable children.  This role will start as soon as possible and, initially on a part-time basis.

Brief overview:

• Nurture Teacher to a small group of Year 7 students

• Responsible for the curriculum delivery which includes English and MFL

• Literacy is at the heart of this provision – reading, writing as well as emotional literacy

• The nurture room will be based in the heart of the school 

• Role to start as soon as possible as there is a need to develop the provision and resources

• Direct the work of a TA attached to the provision

• Ability to engage children with SEND is essential

About the role of Nurture Teacher:

As a Nurture Teacher based in this setting, you will be responsible for delivering creative and engaging lessons for a nurture class of year 7 students. The students will spend part of their curriculum time accessing this provision that will cover literacy based subjects and reduce the number of teachers a typical year 7 pupil experiences. You will liaise closely with Assistant Headteacher Well-being, Head of Lower School, SENDCO and Heads of House who will provide full support. 

Requirements for Nurture Teacher:

For this Nurture Teacher opportunity, you will need to hold Primary QTS and have relevant experience as a Teacher of English and MFL. You will need to demonstrate evidence of experience working with vulnerable children, those with SEMH, disengagement, high anxiety and potentially those with behavioural issues.  Your approach will suit the needs of the pupils within the nurture group.

Bohunt School is a mixed 11-18 School and Sixth Form with more than 1800 students on roll. We are the state school of choice for the local area and draw students from the surrounding region, including the counties of Surrey and West Sussex.

Sixth Form

Bohunt Sixth Form opened in September 2017 in purpose built accommodation surrounded by open countryside, a short walk away from the main school. We are proud to serve our community by providing for its leisure, learning and social needs; our facilities are extensive and impressive and include squash courts, a floodlit artificial turf pitch and changing pavilion, a fully equipped fitness room and a sports hall. 

TESLA
