Job Description

The main duties are as follows:(a) teaching assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction(b) developing the school curriculum(c) assessing, recording and reporting the work of pupils(d) preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with their administration(e) providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education(f) promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of pupils(g) working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals(h) undertaking appropriate and agreed Continuing Professional Development(i) participating in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review(j) contributing towards good order and the wider needs of the school

Applications will also be considered from applicants who are provisionally registered and are able to take up unpromoted permanent positions on a temporary basis. Full time posts would also be suitable for applicants wishing to apply on a job-share or part-time basis

About Milne's High School

 Milne's High School is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary in Fochabers, Moray. The School Badge comprises three boars’ heads with a pheon in the centre, set on a green background. The school motto translates from Latin as 'With Speed and Zeal.’

The village of Fochabers has a population of 1,800, and is located 10 miles east of Elgin. Its most famous former resident is entrepreneur Alexander Milne, whose estate led to the school’s founding in 1846. The high school is located close by to Milne's Primary School, and is located five miles from the coastline. The region of Moray is located in northern Scotland, situated between the council territories of Aberdeenshire and the Highlands.

As well as dedication to academic excellence, Milne’s takes great pride in offering opportunities for students to expand their horizons outside of school hours. Extra-curricular activities on offer range from sporting interests such such as football, dancing and hockey to various musical groups such as the school orchestra, jazz band and choir. Every other year students are given the opportunity to visit southern Tanzania for a month long trip as part of the World Challenge.

“The overall quality of teaching was good. Most teachers delivered well-planned lessons using a variety of resources. Almost all teachers shared the content of lessons with pupils and in the most effective lessons, they also shared the purpose. Their explanations were clear and developed pupils’ understanding very well. Almost all teachers interacted very effectively with pupils.”
