Job overview

We are looking to appoint a temporary Teacher of PE and Maths. The post is a key appointment in terms of enhancing and ensuring the positive life chances for our students through success and achievement. As such, we are keen to recruit a dedicated and ambitious professional who will add value to our Academy in both academic terms and through involvement in the fabric of learning and success beyond the classroom.

The person we are seeking to appoint will be dedicated, enthusiastic and motivated in making the best use of the facilities our Trust can offer in order to develop the life chances of our young people through inspirational and successful Physical Education teaching.

A keen interest in the teaching of Maths and a sound knowledge and understanding of the subject is essential, but you do not have to have a degree in Maths.

We have created an educational environment where staff and students constantly strive to improve; where teachers sharpen their skills and expand their repertoires to deliver an outstanding learning experience; and where teachers, classroom assistants, mentors, tutors, inclusion support assistants and students operate as a seamless team.

The Outwood Grange Academies Trust offers:

The opportunity to work and progress across the Family of Schools.

The chance to apply for leadership roles in the Deeps working across the whole Academy.

The support and expertise of our Directors of Maths working across the Family of Schools.

External outreach through the work of the Yorkshire and Humber Maths Hub.

A full and detailed programme of support and development for ECTs.

A further comprehensive programme of professional development is provided through the Outwood Institute of Education (formerly the teaching school).

We are an 11-18 academy, based in the cathedral city of Wakefield in West Yorkshire, near Leeds, with a curriculum designed to stretch and enrich our students’ experience. Our relentless focus on learning ensures everyone has the right to learn.

Part of the Outwood Family since 2018, we are a welcoming and supportive academy, with a relentless determination to provide the very best education for every child. With a holistic view of education, we aim to create a safe and secure learning community that encourages healthy and sustainable lifestyles and empowers students to pursue career pathways they will find stimulating and deeply rewarding.

In 2021 we completed a new multi-million pound development, the highlight of which was a new 17 classroom teaching block which is home to music and drama rooms, art rooms, a main hall and a dining room. We are proud to have been awarded Gold Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.

As we continue to improve and progress, help to take us to the next level.

The Outwood Family of Schools pride ourselves on fully supporting colleagues within the Family both professionally and personally.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.

We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including family friendly policies, enhanced occupational benefits available (such as maternity, adoption and parental leave) with no qualifying period, funded CPD for qualifications up to and including Masters level plus other exclusive benefits including a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy.

All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.

If you share our vision, join our family.
