Job overview

Physical Education Teacher

Required for September 2017

Tupton Hall is a large, truly comprehensive school with 1500 students including a Sixth Form of over 330 students.  We are a popular school aiming to provide support and challenge for all learners.  This is a fantastic opportunity for an exceptional classroom practitioner who has the passion and drive to further develop their career with us across Key stage 3 4 and 5. You will believe in the power of PE, make sure that no child is left behind and be committed to promote our values of Aspire Learn Achieve.   Physical Education is a strong faculty and popular with students. KS 4 and KS 5 outcomes are above national averages with large numbers of students opting into GCSE PE.  Our KS 5 performance is a particular strength of the faculty. We are clear that we still have plenty to do and the successful candidate would be expected to actively be part of this. This is a key appointment and we encourage applications from inspirational and hardworking professionals, committed to thinking differently who believe in thorough lesson planning and creative use of assessment to further progress for all students. The ability and willingness to take on wider work of the department and to contribute fully to the provision and development of our PE and school sport activities is of paramount importance to us.  Our PE department facilities are outstanding and include fully equipped tartan athletics track and associated field event facilities, 2 Astroturf areas, recently refurbished outdoor basketball and extensive tennis courts, sports hall, gymnasium, dance studio, spin suit and extensive playing fields.  We are a forward thinking faculty and have embraced the changes to the curriculum and assessment without levels including revising our methods of assessment and teaching and learning pedagogy. However we are not standing still and are keen to accelerate our development next year having secured funding to develop a ‘Trim trail’ on site.   If you would like to join a large, vibrant community school where every person matters, please submit your application by the closing date.  Appointment will, of course, be subject to appropriate child safeguarding procedures.  You will be given a comprehensive induction programme to help you to get established in the school. Please take the time to look closer via our website.

Please contact Mr Moxon (Head of PE faculty) to arrange a visit or for further information on
