Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and ambitious teacher to teach PE at St Andrew’s. The PE department is very strong and fully staffed with nine specialist teachers supported by two unqualified teachers.  PE plays a significant role in the experience of the students at
St Andrew’s with Years 7 and 8 having 7 PE lessons per fortnight.  Year 9 have 5 lessons per fortnight and Years 10 and 11 have 4 lessons per fortnight.  We run a comprehensive programme of extra-curricular sport with large numbers of students representing the school in inter school competitions.  In addition to core PE, GCSE and Level 2 BTEC are popular options at GCSE where the pass rate has been 100% for the past 5 years with well over 50% achieving a 7-9.  Similarly at KS5 both A Level PE and Level 3 BTEC are popular subjects with again 100% achieving A*-C year on year.   We have good facilities and an exceptional team of PE teachers.  The successful candidate would ideally offer one of the major games – Football, Rugby, Basketball or Cricket.

This post would suit an NQT or an experienced candidate.

The school’s promotion of pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is highly effective, and pupils are very well prepared for the next stage of their education and for work. The quality of teaching, especially teachers’ use of assessment, has improved considerably since the last inspection, and is now outstanding.
