Job overview

South Lanarkshire Council schools have recently undergone an £800m+ modernisation programme. We have invested significantly in modernising school buildings and this project is believed to be the largest and most progressive in the UK.

The agenda now is to provide high quality education which will inspire learners, transform learning and strengthen communities.

During this time we have built and modernised numerous Primary and Secondary Schools.

It is our mission to make positive meaningful changes in the lives of young people. We aim to provide an exceptional learning and working environment for pupils and staff and work in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals.

If you want to teach in modern schools which are suited to delivering a 21st century curriculum we are looking for you to join us.  We are the fifth largest local authority in Scotland and we want to harness the passion and commitment that you have for teaching – so why not come and join us.

We are now inviting applications from Fully Qualified (GTCS) PE Teachers.

You will assist in the delivery of the curriculum and contribute to whole school initiatives, as appropriate and will carry out the range of duties outlined in Annexe B of "A Teaching Profession for the 21st Century".

Biggar High School is a mixed, secondary comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in the town of Biggar in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is a state school, and has nursery and primary school counterparts as separate institutions, also under the South Lanarkshire authority. Smaller than average in size for a school of its type, the school handbook identifies a school roll of around 664 students of S1-6 levels between the ages of 12-18.

A brand new school building was constructed over the 2008-2009 school year and opened to pupils in August 2009. The new building contains a new library and extensive sports facilities for students to enjoy.
