The de Ferrers Academy has gained a reputation for high levels of academic achievement, demonstrated by the fact that the 2016 results at GCSE and A-level are the best on record.  We have a positive ethos and excellent staff/student relationships, we value our staff and are committed to their personal and professional development.    In recent years, the Academy has developed a national reputation for innovation and success in Learning technologies and ICT.   The Academy is an Apple Regional Training Centre, with 1:1 use of iPads for all Key Stage 4 and 5 students. 

The Physical Education Faculty consists of 7 full-time and 3 part-time members of teaching staff. The Faculty currently comprises six men and five women (4 of whom are on the Leadership Team, and one with Support & Guidance responsibilities).  The teaching staff are supported by a PE technician who is based in the Sports Hall building, and a Faculty Learning Supervisor (CALS) who supports teaching and learning and covers lessons within PE.

The Physical Education facilities are based on two campuses.  Each campus has a gymnasium and a hall, tennis / netball courts and extensive playing fields.  On the Trent Campus there are, two football pitches, a superbly maintained cricket square and 100m tartan athletics running straight. On this campus we also have a purpose built 4 badminton court Sports Hall, with two PE classrooms and a fitness suite.  On the Dove Campus there are two football pitches, one rugby pitch, and a concrete cricket wicket.  Both campuses also have a tarmac yard which is utilised by the Faculty. 

In extra-curricular Physical Education the main sports entered into are football, basketball, athletics, cricket, netball, hockey, badminton, table tennis and rounders.  The Faculty has a strong tradition in dance, badminton and gymnastics reflecting our facilities and the local leagues and competitions.
