Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and determined performing arts teacher to join our energetic and experienced Performing Arts Department in May/June 2020.

Performing Arts is a thriving department at Everest Community Academy. Within the school, dance and drama are highly respected, popular subjects across all key stages.  Students study Dance and Drama for one lesson per week in years 7 and 8 and can then study GCSE Dance and GCSE Drama from year 9 as part of the school wide 3 year GCSE programme.  The aspirational and engaging curriculum we provide attracts healthy GCSE uptake and our highly enthusiastic team of performing arts staff also work hard to offer students exciting extracurricular activities. These include regular showcases, workshops with external practitioners and a wide range of performing arts clubs, such as Dance Company.

The school is in an exciting phase, having recently joined the high performing Bourne Education Trust. We are eager to appoint exceptional individuals who wish to make a significant contribution to the learning and lives of our students.

We can offer you the chance to work in a school that, in the words of the Department of Education, has been “transformed since working with the Bourne Education Trust”. The next few years will see the school obtain high performance in public exams and be one of the leading schools in Basingstoke.

We are committed to providing the very best for our teachers. The benefits you can expect by working at Everest are:

 A focus on staff well-being and a commitment to reducing staff workload

 A shorter academic year (37.2 weeks per year), which means more time to recover and a good work-life balance

 Outstanding NQT training and support

 Manageable marking policy

 Shared resources and lesson planning

 Great opportunities for career progression

 Whole school approach to rewards and behaviour using our ‘Right to Learn’ strategy

We are a fast paced and dynamic mixed comprehensive school meeting the needs of children of all abilities from 11-16 years.

We were obviously delighted with the swift progress being made by the school but are greedy for more. Our ideal candidates are energetic, ambitious (for themselves and their students), resilient and enthusiastic.

Visits to the school are strongly recommended and informal enquiries are welcomed.  Should you wish to apply for this vacancy, please view the job description and complete the application form which can be found at: www.everestcommunityacademy.org
