Job overview

We seek an able and enthusiastic part-time (0.5 FTE) Philosophy Teacher to join a growing department in an ambitious, thriving school. The position would suit a qualified teacher but also a recent Philosophy Graduate wishing to take their first steps in to teaching.

In the Sixth Form, Philosophy is currently taught at A Level and follows the AQA Curriculum comprising  Epistemology, Philosophy of Mind , Metaphysics of God and Ethics in equal proportions. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a thorough grasp of the assessment requirements at AQA - A Level for Philosophy.

Within the department, we engage learners in robust and in-depth critique of philosophical concepts; equipping them to write precise answers to the A Level questions, to draw meaningfully on their wider course reading for longer essay answers, and to turn their minds adeptly to contemporary applications of philosophy and ethics.

We would welcome applications from existing experienced and enthusiastic teachers but also form recent Graduates in the discipline. For the right candidate, there is the opportunity to expand the teaching commitment with additional RS lessons.

In return, as well as job satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment, we can offer a competitive salary, staff fee remission on school fees both at King Edward’s and our partner school Barrow Hills, free car parking, free use of our gym, swimming pool and sports facilities, all meals and snacks on duty and a Cycle to Work Scheme. We currently offer membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), if applicable.

Single or family accommodation may also be available at favourable rents.

To apply, please complete the Application Form and for further details, visit our website www.kesw.org or contact the HR Department on hr@kesw.org or telephone 01428 686739.

Closing date for applications: Noon, 24th May 2022. However, early application is recommended as we reserve the right to interview and appoint prior to the closing date.

King Edward’s School Witley is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. All successful applicants are required to complete an Enhanced disclosure through the DBS. Applicants from under-represented groups are particularly welcome.
