With 250 students beginning their journey in 2021, Suzhou Reading School is pioneering a curriculum that teaches both Chinese and international qualifications.

Our new School has exceptional facilities including a theatre, swimming pool and sports facilities, and exceptional multi-lingual Chinese staff, many of whom were educated in the UK and are ready to teach the Chinese curriculum and support the English curriculum.

Our curriculum is based on the very best educational practice in Key Stages 2 - 4, and practitioners who are proficient at stretching bright and engaged students, are sure to flourish in the team we are building.

Suzhou is a delightful, and very convenient, place to live and work. As one of the ancient capitals of China the city has a long history. The first European traveller to China, Marco Polo, described Suzhou as “the Venice of the East” because of its beautiful gardens and network of canals and bridges. Today Suzhou is a bustling city of 7 million, a hub for high tech industry, with parts of the ancient city still carefully preserved.

Shanghai, the vibrant business metropolis of China is not far away – 25 minutes on the bullet train (or a bit longer by motorway). Travel to and from Suzhou is thus very convenient, one flies in and out of Shanghai. The city’s links with the rest of China are excellent too, with bullet train connections in all directions – for example it is only 4 hours to Beijing on the bullet.

Suzhou Reading School is located in one of the more recently developed parts of the city, Suzhou New District (SND). There are good transport links to the city centre and all its amenities and attractions. Suzhou has a well developed underground metro network, while SND has its own modern tram system, so getting about is straight forward. The school is close to scenic Tai Lake, one of the largest lakes in China, where locals go for recreation and relaxation.
