Job overview

Harrow Shanghai is a high-performing, globally renown and market-leading international British curriculum school located in one of the most dynamic and exciting 21st century cities in the world.

The School, which prizes the development of sport within and outside of the curriculum, is seeking an experienced, committed and inspiring Teacher of Physical Education, to commence in post in August 2020. The post-holder will lead curricular and co-curricular teaching and coaching of PE and Sport across the Early Years, Pre-prep and Prep phases of the School (Pre-Nursery to Year 8).

The role would especially suit candidates who have a particular interest in both netball and swimming.

Harrow Shanghai is the fourth school in the prestigious Harrow family of highly renowned schools in the Asia region, providing an independent education from Early Years to Upper Sixth within a high specification, modern and purpose-built campus just 35 minutes from the epicenter of the diverse, historically-rich and cosmopolitan metropolis of Shanghai.

The School combines the enduring core elements of the educational philosophy, practice and traditions of Harrow School in London, alongside the very modern international mindedness of a diverse and ambitious pupil body.

Officially opened by HRH Prince Edward, the School was launched in September 2016 and its roll is growing annually throughout all phases: Early Years, Pre-prep, Prep and Senior Schools. The pupils, who are simply a delight to teach, go on to study IGCSEs and A Levels, and the very first Upper Sixth leavers have already departed to many of the most competitive universities across the globe in 2019, including Oxbridge.

Harrow is, however, about much more than simply outstanding academic results and our pupils excel in music, drama, sport and the arts as well, as involving themselves in service to the local community.

The PE Department enjoys superb modern facilities including a competition standard pool and double-sized sports hall, as well as an astro and Games fields. There are regular sports fixtures and the pupils have a keen appetite for involvement.

The successful candidate can expect a generous salary, a performance-related bonus, accommodation, medical and flight benefits and an unusual 100% tuition fees remission for up to two dependents (50% for any further children thereafter).

Moreover, working within the highly prestigious Harrow Group of schools, which works very closely with Harrow London and is expanding rapidly, will provide an ideal opportunity for career development and promotion.
