Perth High School is a co-educational secondary school located in Perth, Scotland. The school has around 1400 pupils, making it significantly larger than the average secondary school. The school also has a large and economically diverse catchment area, a fact reflected its student intake. Founded in 1950, Perth High School has existed on its present site since 1971, and has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation since then, and as such can now boast of a range of modern teaching facilities and recreational areas.

Values and Vision

Perth High School highly values its comprehensive ethos, working hard in order to ensure that the school curriculum properly serves the diverse needs and aspirations of its pupils. To this end, older pupils in S5 and S6 have a wide range of subjects to study, including both vocational and academic qualifications, with the school also working with other local educational institutions in order to provide for students looking to study off-site. The emotional and social development of students is carefully considered at Perth High School, with pupils being taught the values of respect and self-motivation.

Education Scotland Inspection

“The quality of the curriculum was good overall, with several innovative features. It provided appropriate breadth and balance at all stages. The school had introduced National Qualification (NQ) courses at Access 3, Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2 levels in several subjects at S3/S4, and vocational course options at S4-S6. The school had involved staff, parents and pupils appropriately in discussing these changes.”
