Job overview

We are looking for a full time, committed and enthusiastic Teacher of Physical Education to join a well-resourced department with excellent results at all levels. The successful candidate will be required to teach Physical Education to KS3, KS4 and possibly to A Level.

We wish to appoint a colleague who: 

  • is an outstanding Teacher of Physical Education
  • has the flair, energy and ability to bring out the best in young people

Physical Education is a popular option choice at KS4 and KS5. It has a record of impressive examination results (summer 2018 GCSE PE: 9-4 90% / BTEC 100% pass rate). At KS3 and KS4 the department offers a diverse and inclusive core curriculum to promote a love of sport and physical activity. Activities include rugby, football, netball, handball, gymnastics, basketball, dance, hockey, athletics, rounders, cricket and softball. 

All staff are provided with laptops and tablet devices and have free access to our fitness suite/gym in the evenings and at weekends as well as discounted Bupa healthcare.

The school is a mixed Church of England Academy, 1495 on roll (316 in Sixth Form), situated near Twyford, between Maidenhead and Reading.

About The Piggott School

Thank you for your interest in joining our community at The Piggott School. We are an extremely successful, oversubscribed, and happy co-educational academy. Our senior school site is on the outskirts of Wargrave (near Twyford) and our primary school site is in the village of Charvil.

The Piggott School was established in 1939 and, together with our primary site at Charvil, we are an all-through 4-18, mixed, comprehensive school with a higher-than-average ability intake. The Piggott School senior site has 1620 students and 175 staff.

Our mission is to be a school which inspires and encourages the highest achievement for each and every child. I believe that our school provides the correct balance and blend of academic challenge, personal care and enrichment that fosters the holistic development of every student.

We are extremely proud of our results, both at GCSE and A level/Level 3 learning. The results achieved in Summer 2023 reflect the hard work and commitment of the students and staff in our school.

GCSE :  Progress 8 score of +0.8

92 % of pupils passed English Language and 93% of pupils passed Mathematics.

6 subjects achieved 100% pass rate and a further 8 subjects achieved a 95% or higher pass rate.

A level : 34% of all entries were A*- A

63% of all entries were A*-B

84% of all entries were A*-C

Average grade of a B+
