El Alsson British and American International School is a British and American International School situated on the western side of Cairo, Egypt. The school is a multi programme school following a British style and American style education on the same campus. The British School follows both the English National Curriculum and the International Early Years & Primary Curriculum, International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, IGCSE & GCSE and GCE and IAL qualifications for students from FS1 to Year 13. Children at El Alsson are happy and achieve high academic standards.

The school was established in 1982 and is situated in a state-of-the-art campus on the Giza Plateau in the new development of New Giza. El Alsson is a member of the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) and is an accredited BSO school and is seeking CIS membership and acreditation. We are a large, vibrant and oversubscribed school with significant development opportunities for the successful candidate. 

We are looking for an inspiring and enthusiastic Teacher of Physics to join our British School Team in September 2022. Experience of teaching UK-style qualifications (GCSE, IGCSE, IAL & GCE) is essential to this role as it will be based in our KS4 and KS5 teaching teams. 

You will need:

● A Teaching qualification that meets the requirements of your home-country (B.Ed, PGCE, GDE etc)

● Minimum 3 years post-qualification teaching experience in similar role and subject area.

Skills and Knowledge

● Experience teaching Physics to both IGCSE and A-Level is essential. 

● Experience of working with highly aspirational and able students is essential

● Excellent interpersonal skills with both adults and children.

● Willingness and ability to work as part of a team.

● Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

● Ability to prioritize and organize your own work. 

● Ability to work effectively to a high standard, on occasion, under pressure, meeting deadlines.

● Knowledge of Health and Safety & Safeguarding/Child Protection procedures and their application.

● Knowledge of computers and ability to use ICT tools for record-keeping and as an instructional tool.

● Ability to act as a secondary form tutor and offer enrichment and extracurricular activities

The school also teaches the Egyptian national curriculum for Arabic studies, Social studies and Religion.
