St George’s British International School is seeking to appoint a teacher of Physics (Secondary) to join us in September 2018.

Candidates should be highly motivated, passionate about teaching to students across the age and ability range. Our ideal candidate will be a practitioner who has a track record of obtaining high levels of attainment for all students through consistently outstanding teaching and learning. The ability to inspire and motivate students is essential.

Our School

St George’s British International School is a leading not-for-profit school, founded in 1958, to serve Rome’s international and expatriate communities. Today St George’s provides an outstanding education to 860 students from over 75 countries. St George’s follows the UK curriculum through to the completion of the (I)GCSE program in Year 11. In the final two year’s of schooling, students follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, and benefit from an extensive range of subject choices. 

The school has two sites. The main campus is based at La Storta in the northern suburbs of Rome. Catering to students from ages 3 to 18, the campus is set in expansive grounds within beautiful panoramic views extending across to the mountains.  The learning facilities at the La Storta campus include fully equipped classrooms, seven science laboratories, two dedicated teaching rooms for Information Technology, a specialist Design and Technology area and a Music Department with a built-in recording studio. The work produced by the English Language, Music and Art departments is exceptional and regularly wins prizes. Sports facilities include a new generation all weather rugby pitch, floodlit AstroTurf soccer pitch, a cross-country trail, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, a fully equipped sports centre and an all-weather multipurpose sports area.

Our second campus, located close to the Vatican in the centre of Rome, opened in 2017. Catering to Junior School students from age 3 to 11, the children benefit from bright, purpose-fitted classrooms that make use of the latest learning technologies. The campus incorporates a theatre, swimming pool and full-size gymnasium as well as specialist classrooms and music areas. 

The most recent cohort of students to graduate from St George’s obtained an overall average score of 36.1 points in the IB Diploma. They go on to study at many of the world’s leading universities, in particular in the United Kingdom, as well as in the USA, Canada, Australia, Europe and Asia.

Your Role 

We are seeking to appoint a Physics Teacher in the Senior school. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is passionate about teaching to students across the age and ability range. 

Essential characteristics for St George’s applicants:

• to be in possession of a university degree in a related subject and an appropriate teaching qualification

• to have had recent, demonstrable experience teaching the subject within the age range

• to be an enthusiastic and passionate teacher with a love of subject and the ability to convey this passion to students

• to be an EU passport holder or already be in possession of a valid visa that allows for working in Italy.
