A member of the Latin American Heads’ Conference (LAHC), International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) and the Round Square Organisation, Markham College, Lima, is one of the leading independent schools in South America.
With over 2200 pupils (3-18) and 360 staff across two campuses, the College has recently opened a new Nursery, a state-of-the-art Science Centre and a world-class facilities for the Visual and Performing Arts. Academic results at both IGCSE and IB level are amongst the best internationally. The majority of students take up places at leading universities in Peru and around the world.
Physics is a popular subject at IB and about 30 students choose to study physics each year, most of them opting to take HL. The HL sets in recent years have on average achieved more than 6 points, which is well above the world average. The science department is very well resourced and there is significant amount of Vernier data logging equipment and probes. The department consists of 12 new labs and is serviced well by six full-time technicians.
In addition, teachers teach across the age range and with younger students we have our internally designed programme which is to develop understanding of science techniques through hands on practical work. The students very much enjoy the challenges and opportunities and many students identify science as one of their most popular subjects. Our consistent and coherent approach is equally popular with our hardworking professional teachers.
The College is looking to appoint an experienced and dynamic physics teacher in the Upper School, from August 2019. Candidates should hold a relevant degree, a teaching qualification and be able to teach their subject to IGCSE and IB level and be prepared to participate fully in the academic and extra-curricular life of the College. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of exceptional teaching.

Established in 1946, Markham College is a regional influence in South America for educational leadership and academic excellence.
