Job overview
Tes is supporting the appointment of a Teacher of Physics to join a School based in Wandsworth.
The School is seeking an ambitious Teacher of Physics to become a key member of their teaching community and challenge and inspire their pupils to achieve their full potential in Physics.
You will deliver enthusiastic and engaging teaching, inspiring motivated pupils with high aspirations, working alongside specialist teachers with a deep knowledge and love of the subject.
Pupils study a combined Science course in years 6 and 7, and the person appointed should expect some lower school teaching in these year groups to form part of their timetable as well as teaching Physics across the age ranges from Y8 to Upper Sixth.
As well as delivering excellent classroom teaching, all staff undertake a pastoral role (as a form tutor, or as a co-tutor if an ECT) and get involved in the wider life of the school through co-curricular activities and outreach programmes.
They are looking for someone with good subject knowledge, seeking to develop their skills in their school. They welcome applications from ECTs as well as experienced teachers with a proven excellent record of teaching Physics at GCSE and A level.
Working at the school
There is always a buzz at this school. Colleagues enjoy their work and, like the pupils, are ambitious for the school. With a weekly staff briefing, half termly staff meetings, termly consultative group meetings and a common room committee, all of them are engaged in a lively ongoing dialogue about the school’s aims and aspirations.
Everyone works hard here, and anyone joining them should expect to do the same and share their commitment to the highest standards. At the same time their ethos remains unpretentious, kindly and practical, and there’s a strong sense of community and friendship at the school.
They aim to look after their staff well: they have an appraisal scheme with a focus on employees’ professional development; they sponsor postgraduate courses and a range of training opportunities; they offer salary sacrifice childcare vouchers through TEDS Premier, they offer a healthcare plan via Simply Health that includes counselling and medical support; and they’re committed to supporting staff wellbeing. Financially, all staff benefit from good pension provision and free lunches.
All applicants need to have the Right to Work in the UK to be considered for the role.
