About our School : Within Salen Primary School there is a welcoming ethos based on a sound partnership between staff and parents. Each child is encouraged to develop to their full potential The school is situated 11 miles northwest of the main ferry terminus of Craignure and is on the main road to Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. The single story building which was erected in 1984, is semi open plan in design. Two additional, spacious classrooms were completed in the Spring of 2002 enabling each teacher to have their own classroom. The school’s catchment area covers a broad region of the island. In addition to our mainstream classes we have the only Gaelic Medium Unit on the island. Sgoil Araich, Gaelic pre-school provision, is situated in a new unit in the school grounds. A commissioned pre-school mainstream group is run in the same premises in the afternoons. Parents can opt to split preschool provision between the two groups.
