Job overview

Teacher of Psychology

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver a new option subject at Witton Park Academy as well as taking a key role in teaching our new Resilience based curriculum.

We are looking for a creative thinker who is an energetic and a dedicated teacher, who will engage, enthuse and challenge students to achieve their very best in Social Sciences. You must possess the skills and determination to bring out the best from students by making a significant contribution to our school community.

In return, we offer: -

  • A Senior Leadership Team who are committed to growth as part of the AtC Trust
  • A school with T&L at the heart of all we do
  • Staff who are united in their aspiration to move the school forward
  • A commitment to professional development opportunities for all staff, with specialist CPD for this particular role

You will have excellent subject knowledge and be well informed on current educational developments and initiatives. You will work within a curriculum area that has significant strength both within GCSE Ethics and AS Level Ethics outcomes, and also quality of teaching of core RE and British Values at Key Stage 3.  Our strength in this area has led to us becoming a Beacon School for Holocaust Education in partnership with University College London.

We are extending our provision within the Ethics/RE area to encompass a Resilience based curriculum that will develop pupils’ mental health through DBT (Dialectical behaviour therapy).  This therapy will be critical in ensuring our pupils are fully prepared for future life.  There is an outline of the curriculum change for you to view on this advert.  Full training will be given to enable you to teach this aspect of the curriculum.

The diverse curriculum offer at Witton Park supports a high uptake for EBacc subjects and option subjects.  Outcomes for pupils in 2016 were judged to be good by Ofsted.  We are now likely to be judged outstanding for progress with a progress 8 score of +0.24 in 2016 and a further significant increase to +0.45 in 2017.  The Ofsted report and website will give you a flavour for other aspects of the school.

We welcome any requests from candidates wishing to visit the Academy. Please contact us on 01254 264551 or by email at info@wittonpark.org.uk if you would like this opportunity.

Completed application forms should be returned to stomlinson@wittonpark.org.uk

Closing date: Monday 12th March 2018 at 3.00pm.

Interviews to take place on Friday 16th March 2018.

Witton Park Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. References will be taken up for all shortlisted candidates and appointments will be subject to satisfactory DBS and Employment checks.

Welcome to Witton Park Academy

Innovating… Engaging… Caring… Learning… Succeeding Together.
With pride and passion we unite our school and our local community, and lead the drive to be ‘always learning’.

We are extremely proud of our school; the achievements of our pupils, the expertise and dedication of our staff, our outstanding facilities and our reputation as a centre of excellence.

Our ultra-modern school buildings allow our pupils to flourish in facilities for learning that truly do enable us to trail blaze innovative learning – from the bright and attractive classrooms, to the fully equipped outside play areas, the facilities allow our pupils to fully explore their talents and to shine in those areas that they most enjoy.

A building, however, is only as good as the people working within; we believe we have some of the best students and teachers in the world.  Staff and pupils benefit from the investment we place on their development: as well as playing a key part in supporting other schools through the Achievement through Collaboration Trust, we have a variety of external partners from Google, The Schools, Students and Teacher Network and with University College London. Partnerships like these create opportunities for all members of our team.

We understand how important choosing the right school is and so, on behalf of our pupils and staff, we warmly invite you to visit our school and experience for yourself the quality of education we offer.
