Principal: Mr Mike Sidebottom

Teacher of Psychology MPS/UPS

To Cover a Maternity Leave

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and well-qualified teacher of Psychology. The post offers an exciting opportunity for an ambitious teacher to join an excellent, supportive and well-resourced team of specialist staff who are strongly committed to improving standards. The successful candidate will be required to teach Psychology to students of all abilities at Key Stage 3 and 4.

We expect that you will be dedicated to ensuring that all pupils achieve academic excellence, be committed to the value of children as individuals and have a clear understanding of curriculum initiatives within Psychology.

We offer:

· An excellent environment for learning

· Great sport facilities including pool and gym, with a well-kept campus set in beautiful surroundings to the north of Bolton.

· Delightful, ambitious, caring and well-motivated students with a strong work ethic

· An experienced and expert team of year leaders, tutors and support staff

Smithills was a Specialist Performing Arts College from 2003 to 2013 and although the nature of Specialist Colleges has changed, our strong commitment to Performance, Music and Art remains as strong as ever.  Our World Championship bands continue to captivate audiences both in this country and abroad. Academic excellence is, however, at the heart of everything we do and we are achieving that without damaging the extraordinarily rich opportunities our students have here.

This post is subject to an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Smithills is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed.
