Job overview

Teacher of RE

(salary negotiable according to experience)

Required for September 2018 (or sooner)

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and conscientious RE teacher to join our outstanding department. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach at KS3-KS5, differentiate the KS3 curriculum and provide support for pupils of all abilities.

We are due to move into a new building with excellent facilities next year.

Maria Fidelis is in a fantastic location between Euston and Kings Cross Station, The British Library, Francis Crick Institute, Wellcome Trust, UCL, SOAR, LSE and Central St. Martin’s School of Art are all within a five minute walk of the school site; the school enjoys extra curricular links with several Science and Arts institutions, many of which offer exciting professional development activities for our teachers.

Maria Fidelis is a welcoming and supportive community; we value the professional autonomy of high performing staff and make managing workload a high priority. All meetings, Parents’ and Open Events happen on a Thursday and staff are free to leave the site earlier on all other evenings, providing standards of marking and preparation are maintained.

Our location also provides many opportunities for staff socialising being only ten minute walk from the lively bars and clubs of Camden Town. Ten minutes on the tube takes you up into the West End or onto the South Bank. Most Thursdays staff meet in a different local pub to chat and relax and larger events are organised through the year at the end of term or on other significant days.

London schools are forward looking and progressive with many opportunities for professional development and sharing practice. Maria Fidelis belongs to networks within Camden but also in other boroughs including Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea and other high performing Catholic Schools in the Westminster Diocese.

Partnerships with City firms such as Deloitte’s enrich the curriculum but also allow our staff to keep ’in touch’ with the world outside education.

Maria Fidelis is a Catholic School but we welcome applications from non-Catholics who feel able to support our ethos.

Experience is preferable but NQTs are very welcome to apply

Closing date for applications: Monday 23rd April 2018

Values and Vision

Maria Fidelis is focused on its Roman Catholic faith but we are also a diverse school community in terms of both staff and pupils and therefore welcome applications from anyone who supports our ethos. The school first started in 1830 serving the local Catholic community under the founder of the Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJ), sisters who continue to work with the school to this day. Much like other schools associated with the FCJ, Maria Fidelis is a school that promises academic excellence. The hope and expectation of the school is that students grow into the best people they can, using their talents to help others.
