Copthall School is led by a decisive leader having been awarded ‘TES Headteacher of the Year Award 2020’ and an MBE in the New Year’s Honours list for Services to Education.  High quality teaching and learning is one of our priorities which leads to outstanding results.   Our outcomes for GCSEs are outstanding with a year on year upward P8 trajectory, placing us in the top 3% nationally for progress.  Our thriving Sixth Form, which is in the top 12% of schools for A-Level results, offers both A-Level and Vocational pathways and we boast an excellent success rate in University applications. 

Our students are keen to learn and are a real pleasure to teach.  We are looking to recruit a full-time Religious Education Teacher who will work in a small team to deliver the curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.  

At Copthall, Religious Education is delivered as a core subject to all students in Years 7 to 11 with all students currently sitting a GCSE in the subject at the end of Key Stage 4. Our results at GCSE are impressive and we continue to promote and grow our offer in the sixth form by offering Religious Studies A level. 

This is a really exciting opportunity for a professional who is passionate about education and looking to develop their own skills in this area. 


The successful candidate will be expected to:

• have QTS and a degree or a similar related Religious Education qualification 

• possess recent experience of teaching Religious Education to students in Key Stages 3, 4 and ideally 5 

• have a good knowledge of the National Curriculum for Religious Education and an understanding of recent curriculum developments

• show an understanding of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the ability range as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement

• have an understanding of the processes and techniques required to assess, record and report students’ learning effectively

• be reflective and driven towards self-improvement

• have a commitment to the values of the school

• have the resolve to make a real difference to the lives of our students

• have an interest in and commitment to working with, supporting the development of, and safeguarding children
