Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a teacher of Humanities to contribute to the ongoing development of the faculty. A commitment to promoting the highest possible academic success and all-round development of our students is essential. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, talented and well-motivated teacher to join our innovative and supportive faculty. We are especially interested in talking to candidates with an RE specialism. 

The successful candidate will have an affinity with young people and be outward thinking in their approach to teaching and learning with the enthusiasm to develop these popular subjects and a vision to continue the excellent work already undertaken. A feature of Humanities is strong student-teacher relationships with staff regularly running after-school revision sessions and extra-curricular clubs. The ability to work effectively as part of a team and uphold the departmental ethos is therefore essential.

You must have very good subject knowledge and be committed to raising the achievement and aspirations of all students. 

The successful candidate will:

• teach RE at all levels and to all abilities, seeking to ensure that all pupils make very good progress, enjoy their learning, and become well educated

• contribute more widely to the well-being of our pupils, through being a form tutor, undertaking duties, and being a role model for them for their learning and their conduct

• have an enthusiasm for RE, which motivates and supports other staff and pupils

• be an enthusiastic and innovative team player with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to achieving high standards within a successful department

• be an excellent classroom practitioner

• have a clear understanding of the characteristics of high-quality teaching and be able and willing to teach across the whole age and ability range 

• quickly build rapport and effective professional relationships with both our young people and colleagues

• understand that behaviour management starts with the quality of teaching in the classroom

• demonstrate personal resilience and role model those personal qualities we wish to instil in our young people
