The Governors are seeking to appoint a committed teacher to this key teaching position within this ‘Outstanding’ (Ofsted) school. This post would suit either an experienced or a newly qualified teacher. We are looking for an energetic and dedicated Teacher of RE to join the school's Religious Education Department. This post would suit an individuals who see their vocation in teaching and who relish the opportunity to engage with and inspire young people who are discovering their own faith.

GCSE and A Level Religious Studies courses are well established and examination results are excellent. This post would attract well-qualified and enthusiastic graduates who would enjoy teaching highly-motivated, polite and intelligent students in an academic school, three times judged OUSTANDING by OFSTED, which is committed to the ideals of Catholic education.

The successful candidate will share the teaching of RE and could be awarded a TLR for other responsibilities such as a managerial responsibility or for the preparation of liturgies; this would be negotiated at interview.

This post come about, in part, through a significant investment in the RE department and an increase in teaching time in line with the Curriculum Directory. All students study GCSE RE and all students in the Sixth Form study a Core RE programme – with some opting for A Level RE.

Ofsted

“St Michael’s is an outstanding school. Standards are exceptionally high, amongst the highest found nationally, both at GCSE and A level, and continue to improve.  The [then-] headteacher and her deputy provide outstanding leadership. They, very ably supported by the senior leadership team, have a strong vision for the education of girls rooted in the Catholic faith, which contributes so much to the ethos of the school.”
