Trinity Catholic High School is an outstandingly successful and oversubscribed 11-18 mixed comprehensive with 1680 students on roll. The school has been recognised as outstanding on five consecutive occasions by Ofsted and in our Section 48 inspection in December 2014. Our latest Ofsted inspection in March 2015 stated ‘the inspirational headteacher is passionately committed to helping every student develop a love of learning. Staff and governors share his enthusiasm and his very high expectations’; ‘a strong sense of shared moral purpose makes the school a very happy and purposeful place’.  Our Catholic identity and mission spring from the passionate conviction that Christ and his church will transform the world through us.

Trinity is seeking to appoint an ambitious and talented Part time RE teacher to join our highly successfully school and RE department from January 2020. The candidate must be a practising Catholic and the ability to teach across key stages 3, 4 and 5 would be an advantage. Students follow the Edexcel syllabus at GCSE and OCR at A level. Religious Education GCSE is a core subject and all students are entered for this examination. Students are taught in mixed ability classes throughout the key stages. The RE department is forward- thinking and highly supportive. Teaching is judged as excellent and the quality of the RE curriculum outstanding.

Our Catholic mission is to enable all students to flourish academically and personally.  As such pastoral care is exceptional as are the outcomes achieved by students at all key stages. In 2019:

• Percentage of 9-7 grades across the school: 38%. 34% of students achieved 5+ 9-7; 8% of all grades were the top grade 9. 38% of students achieved grades 9-7 in RE.

• The percentage of students at 5+ in English and Mathematics is 68%; 86% attained the standard pass in both English and Mathematics – both significantly higher than national figures.

• 106 grade 9s were awarded across all GCSE subjects. 

• Progress 8 is +0.51 and well above the national average, top 15% of Schools. 

• Attainment 8; 58.87 and above the national average of 46.55. 

• A*-E in our sixth form of 480+ students is 97%.


This post would be suitable for experienced teachers who feel they can make a significant and positive contribution to the Religious Education department and the school as a whole.

Trinity Catholic High School is a denominational, co-educational secondary school in Woodford Green, Essex. There are 1660 students on the school roll, 464 of whom are in the sixth form.

Founded in 1976, the school’s motto is "In Christ We Shall Flourish". Its most famous former student is Olympic gold-medal-winning athlete Christine Ohuruogu.

Religious teachings play an integral part in the Trinity Catholic High School ethos. The school operates on the belief that all are sons and daughters of God, equal in dignity to each other. The secondary school also prides itself on being a multi-cultural, international school. Extra-curricular trips have included French and Spanish film days at the British Film Institute in London, ski trips to Colorado and Austria, and music tours of Holland.
