Chiltern Hills Academy invites applications for the opportunity to join the staff of a successful, mixed 11-18 Church of England Academy in the Chiltern Hills, conveniently situated at the end of the London Underground Metropolitan Line.

We are seeking to appoint from September 2018, a well-qualified, enthusiastic and passionate teacher of Religious Studies to GCSE Level, following the Eduqas specification. The successful application will provide the students with a rounded education of all sides of philosophy, religion and ethics. They will explore, with the students, how to thrive in modern Britain through an understanding of an ever complex world. The department embraces inquisitive learning with the aim of encouraging pupils to be critical, caring, creative and collaborative thinkers.

The successful applicant would also be able to offer a second subject, ideally Sociology, although other subjects will be considered. The successful candidate will be fully involved in departmental development, target setting and evaluation of student progress and will possess the following attributes:

  • An outstanding classroom practitioner
  • Highly developed inter-personal skills
  • High expectations for student achievement.

Applications from NQTs, experienced teachers or those returning to the profession will be welcome.

We have recently completed a capital build with an investment of £10 million which provides an excellent, well-resourced teaching environment. “Leaders know their school well” our OFSTED inspection recognised (February 2017) and further judged the school to be ‘good’ in all categories. “Staff, pupils and parents fully support the headteacher’s vision and would recommend this school to other parents.” “Pupils have embraced the school’s values and ethos. As a result they behave well in lessons and the school is calm and orderly.”

We would be pleased to show prospective applicants around the Academy. Please contact Mrs W Sanders (Principal’s PA) to arrange.  Details of the post are on our website, together with an application form. Please send your completed application, together with a letter and CV, to Mrs Sanders at wsanders@chacademy.co.uk.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. All staff appointments are subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
