Thank you for your interest in becoming teacher of RS at The Forest Academy.  The Forest Academy is on an exciting journey, and we are looking for a teacher who is committed to making a difference to the lives of our students.  We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational teacher who is ambitious and has a real passion for Religious Studies.  The successful applicant will have high expectations and will be a reflective practitioner who is always keen to develop and improve their teaching.  They will appreciate their role in helping our students to have high aspirations, and they will share our belief that our students deserve an exceptional curriculum and the very best teaching.  They will, like us, believe in our students.

Students enjoy studying RS at The Forest Academy. We have recently updated our curriculum to ensure that it fully aligns with our CALIBRE curriculum framework, and department meetings are rooted in developing the expertise of our staff.  The Humanities Faculty is a highly skilled and collaborative team with a clear and exciting vision. There is also the opportunity to teach within the Sixth Form, with RS currently part of the Sixth Form offer at TFA.  This role is crucial for our students, and will be pivotal in helping them to have high aspirations and to achieve at the highest level.

Role Description

This Recruitment pack should be read alongside the range of professional duties of teachers as set out in the contract of employment, Teachers’ Standards and BMAT policies and procedures.

Teachers make the education of their students their first concern, and are accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct. Teachers act with honesty and integrity; have strong subject knowledge, keep their knowledge and skills as teachers up-to-date and are self-critical; forge positive professional relationships; and work with parents in the best interests of their students.

Teachers must meet all of the requirements in the Teachers’ Standards.  

1. A teacher must set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils

2. Promote good and outstanding progress and outcomes by pupils

3. Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge

4. Plan and teach well-structured lessons

5. Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils

6. Make accurate and productive use of assessment

7. Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a safe, conducive and high quality learning environment

8. Fulfil wider professional responsibilities

9. Teachers uphold public trust in the profession and maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour, within and outside school

10. Teachers must have proper and professional regard for the ethos, policies and practices of the school in which they teach, and maintain high standards in their own attendance and punctuality.

11. Teachers must have an understanding of, and always act within, the statutory frameworks which set out their professional duties and responsibilities.

The Forest Academy

The Forest Academy is a medium-sized, community school integral to the Beacon Multi - Academy Trust. We are a good school (Ofsted, 2023), serving a diverse and vibrant community in Hainault.

Values and vision

We are proud of the inclusive nature of TFA, particularly our Additionally Resourced Provision, Beacon Communication School, for students with a range of social communication difficulties including Autism and Asperger’s syndrome, with a new 6thform provision as part of Beal 6th form.
