Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated?

Come and join our outstanding team at Outwood Academy Carlton!

Achieving Academy status in February 2016 as part of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust, Outwood Academy Carlton is going from strength to strength. Based in the attractive village of Carlton, we offer an exceptional education and are enjoying significant improvement across every key measure and in every subject. In December 2015, Ofsted noted that “senior leaders have a clear vision for the school” and that “all aspects of school life have been transformed”, with the result that “pupils feel well cared for”. You can help us take things to the next level.

Outwood Academy Carlton is situated in North East Barnsley and is easily accessible from South and West Yorkshire, with Wakefield, Sheffield, Doncaster, Huddersfield and Pontefract all within commuting distance. We are just 5 miles from the M1.

Outwood Grange Family of Schools is nationally recognised as the highest performing multi-academy trust in the country.

Outcomes for students have improved hugely over the last 3 years across all measures; for example, the proportion of students achieving a grade 4 or better in English and mathematics has risen a staggering 35% to 68% during this period. We are now performing at or above the national average across the board and are the top performing school in Barnsley. Outcomes will continue to improve, with Ofsted stating that “Attainment and progress demonstrate rapid improvement for current pupils”.

In December 2015, our fantastic work was recognised by Ofsted, when they moved the school from ‘Special Measures’ to ‘Good’ (in all areas).

Outwood Academy Carlton is a wonderful place to work. Everyone associated with the Academy recognises the real buzz of excitement and sense of togetherness. Although the demands and expectations are very high, staff enjoy coming to work, know that they are making a real difference to our young people and fully understand and support our vision of ‘Students first’.

Ofsted praised the behaviour of our students and we pride ourselves on the behaviour of our students, both in lessons and around the site. Critically, the excellent focus and engagement of our students allows teachers to teach and students to succeed.

If you join Outwood Academy Carlton, you will be joining the Outwood Grange Family of Schools and will therefore enjoy so many opportunities, whether you wish to stay in one school or work across the Family of Schools. When you are ready to move up, you will not need to move on. All of our Academies have one common goal: to give children, irrespective of ability or circumstances, the chance to succeed. We are passionate about recognising the potential of both children and staff, and we do whatever it takes to transform futures.

If you are interested in this role, we invite you to contact, P Haynes Principal (p.haynes@carlton.outwood.com) if you have any questions, and you would be very welcome to visit, by arrangement, to see lessons and witness the rapid improvement that has already occurred.
