Job overview

The Peele Community College is a popular, oversubscribed 11 -16 College in the rural market town of Long Sutton. There has been a significant improvement in GCSE progress, and the Science department is one of the highest performing departments in the College achieving 64% A* - C in Additional Science and 92% for each triple subject.

The Peele Community College underwent an OFSTED inspection in June 2017, where the leadership and governance of the school were a cause for concern. Since this time a new Head Teacher and new Chair of Governors have been appointed. The Peele Community College is now moving forward and improvements have been made in all of those areas identified as a concern. The low cost of housing makes the surrounding area an ideal location for people wishing to relocate and a relocation allowance will be available to a suitable candidate.

We are looking to recruit a talented and dynamic teacher of Science who is able to inspire students, be innovative and achieve outstanding results. The College provides extensive opportunities for Professional Development, including links to IoP and LTSA, which would particularly benefit newly qualified teachers and those wishing to progress to management.

The Science department has had significant investment over recent years and is supported by a dedicated Technician. There is good ICT access for students within Science, with a specific ICT base for the department. As well as the regular laboratories, the department also has tiered lecture style facilities. KS3 follow an inspiring two year practical course leading to combined or triple science in KS4.

An additional TLR may be available for further responsibilities. Laptops are provided to all staff.

An application pack can be obtained by visiting the College website www.thepeele.co.uk/vacancies

Visits to the college by prospective candidates are warmly welcomed.

Closing date for applications: 14th May 2018

Interviews will be held over the two weeks commencing: 14th May 2018

Applicants please note this post is subject to enhanced DBS clearance. This College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
