Belmont School is located on Haslingden Road, Rawtenstall, with easy access to both the M65 and the M66.  The property is of Victorian design, built approximately 100 years ago, it occupies an extensive site in excess of 3 acres, with the Coach House and Hadfield block in the grounds.  The site was formerly a local authority special needs school, which was extensively re-furbished.

The school has been established and is managed by Acorn Care & Education who have extensive experience in the management of schools for pupils with Emotional Social and Behavioural Difficulties and potentially other Learning Difficulties.   Belmont School is approved by the DfES to provide specialist education for 120 boys aged 7-18 who experience Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties with potentially other Learning Difficulties.

The approach is individually based in line with the Code of Practice and the school aims to forge practical working partnerships with pupils, parents/carers and involved professionals.  The aim of the establishment is to encourage children to achieve and succeed personally, academically, socially and develop their self confidence that will enable them to cope in everyday situations, and manage the transition from school to college or work environments.

The intention is to provide a local resource for pupils, parents and local authorities within one hour travelling distance, this will allow children to be retained within their family and community environments.

POST TITLE: TEACHER OF SCIENCE AND ICT

Post Purpose: Under the reasonable direction of the Principal, carry out the professional duties of a teacher as outlined in the generic job description. To ensure provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students studying in the curriculum area, in accordance with the aims of the school and the curricular policies. To contribute to raising standards of student attainment. To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their full potential. To develop and enhance the teaching practice of others. To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a manager within the curriculum area.

Reporting to: Headteacher and Assistant Head Teacher

Responsible for: The provision of a full learning experience and support for students. Line managing named members of the staff as appropriate. Liaising with: Principal, Leadership Team, teachers and support staff, LA representatives, external agencies and parents/carers

Working Time: Full time as specified within the staff handbook

Salary/Grade: £23,000 - £28,000 dependent upon experience and qualifications.
