Job overview

TEACHER OF SCIENCE AND PE

MPS/UPS, London Fringe Pay Scale

Required for September 2019 a well-qualified, enthusiastic and hardworking teacher to join both the Science and PE Departments and teach across the age and ability range at KS3 and KS4.

The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College is a school where students achieve well and are part of a strong, caring community. Our school’s ambition was recognised by Ofsted in May 2016 when it was stated that, “School leaders are ambitious.  They want the school to become outstanding and they are doing the right things to achieve this.”

In 2018, our A Level results place us in the top 25% of schools nationally with 45% of grades at A*B and two students securing a place at Cambridge University. We also continue to deliver strong outcomes in vocational courses.

The successful candidate will join a supportive Science team and continue the excellent work already underway. The Science Department currently consists of ten full time teachers and four subject specific technicians, who are clearly focused on raising standards of teaching to “outstanding” and ensuring all pupils make excellent progress.

The PE department has a record of examination success at all levels.  The department consists of eight full time teachers.  Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to take part in our extensive programme of extra-curricular activities.

You will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Excellent subject knowledge

• Ability to build positive working relationships with students and staff

• Passion for delivering outstanding teaching practice

We are keen to appoint dedicated staff who are eager to support our students to achieve in all aspects of their school life and who want to be key contributors to our school’s success.  We welcome applications from teachers at any stage of their careers, including NQTs.

We encourage visits from prospective candidates to meet members of our school community and to experience our school at first hand.  If you would like to do this please contact Shelley Edwards, HR Assistant on 01268 627866 or via email to recruitment@bromfords.essex.sch.uk

A recruitment package, including financial assistance and benefits, is available.

The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The successful applicant will be offered a position subject to full pre-employment checks including an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Closing Date: Tuesday 21st May 2019, midday

Values and vision

The Bromfords School  key aim is to be a school where its pupils are happy; where they feel safe and able to express themselves; and where they can access a challenging and appropriate curriculum. Promoting positive role models and fostering individual and collective pride are viewed as important, playing a role in creating pupils who are confident learners, able and ready to conquer barriers to success.

Academic progress is regularly monitored, although success in this area is not the be all and end all to education at the school. A wide range of extra-curricular and sporting activities are on offer, reflecting a holistic approach to developing pupils’ abilities.

The school’s sixth form, which benefits from small classes, prides itself on offering students a bespoke curriculum. Its aim is to encourage its students not only to develop a lifelong love of learning but to become caring and active citizens in the local community.

Ofsted

“The governors and headteacher have a vision for the school which middle leaders and staff share. There is a clear culture of hard work and good behaviour throughout the school. Governors and leaders have a firm understanding of the school’s strengths and areas for further development.”
