2025 marks Aston University Sixth Form and Engineering Academy’s 13th year since opening as Birmingham’s University Technical College
Our dynamic and over-subscribed STEM academy is made up of both Aston University Sixth Form, which has over 450 learners following pathways in either academic STEM A levels, or Vocational technical courses in Engineering, Health, Science, or Business. This is complemented by the small Aston University Engineering Academy which has just 81 students per year from Years 9-11. Currently, both phases share a building on the edge of our Sponsor Aston University.
The UTC's success has been recognised nationally including the Secretary of State awarding an expansion in September 2023 to 800 students, and a new dedicated building with further STEM specialist facilities, including £350K simulation hospital. This underpins the impact of the UTC recognised by our Ofsted inspection with inspectors stating our specialist employer work and destinations are 'exemplary' with the UTC being Good with Outstanding feature.
As part of our planned growth and increased A Level biology provision, we are looking for an enthusiastic teacher of science for September 2025.

You will join a friendly and supportive 100% specialist Science team consisting of; 9 teachers including a Director of Science, 2 Assistant-CALs, subject leads for Biology Chemistry and Physics, subject teachers and 2 technicians.

We firmly believe in learning outside the classroom in 2024 run Biology field trips to Aberystwyth University, Zambia, and Ecuador.
