Located in the village of Keyworth, Nottingham, South Wolds Academy is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form. With around 900 students on roll, South Wolds is average-sized compared to most other secondary schools of its type. First opened in 1967, the school was previously known as South Wolds Community School, but adopted its current name in 2012 following its conversion to academy status. Serving pupils in both Nottingham and the surrounding area, South Wolds Academy has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation since its founding, and can now boast of a wide range of modern teaching and recreational facilities.

Values and Vision

South Wolds Academy is notable for offering a wide range of language options for students, even including Japanese, with the school maintaining partnerships with a number of foreign schools as a result. The school sets high standards of behaviour outside the classroom, and encourages students to carry these standards with them when they eventually leave school. South Wolds Academy also offers a diverse and wide-ranging curriculum, in order to best meet the needs of all students regardless of background of academic ability.

Ofsted

“The sixth form is now a significant strength of the school. Students are very successful in the courses they follow; they enjoy their studies and make good progress. Leaders of the sixth form have developed effective study programmes which meet the needs and aspirations of students. All students leave the sixth form at appropriate education, employment or training destinations.”
