Opportunity for Responsibility Point

Aston Manor Academy (Secondary) is part of a Multi-Academy Trust that also sponsors a local Primary Academy. Both Academies are happy, exciting and inspiring learning environments for their children who are from a vibrant mix of cultures. The staff and Trustees have a great sense of pride in their Academies and care passionately about their students.

We are seeking an outstanding Teacher of Science to join our fantastic existing team, in order to assist with the development of the department and drive the school to an overall ‘Outstanding’ status. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding teaching practitioner with sound subject knowledge and a passion for teaching Science.

NQT’s are welcome to apply however; the opportunity to take ownership of responsibility within the department may be possible dependent on the calibre of the candidate. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate their quality of teaching through evidence of exam performance.

In return, we can offer

  • Excellent students and staff who will enthuse and inspire the successful candidate
  • A commitment to CPD opportunities
  • Salary payable from July (for NQT’s)
  • Employee wellbeing benefits

In our last Ofsted inspection (February 2013) we were judged to be Good with Outstanding features and are currently rated in the top 3% of schools nationally for progress at Key Stage 4. We firmly believe that one of the key hallmarks of Aston Manor Academy is the atmosphere created by a positive, friendly and supportive ethos which enables all of our students to make progress, both academically and in their personal development.

The successful candidate should have a commitment to the Trust and community ethos.

School Information

Aston Manor has a strong reputation for providing an excellent education for all its pupils in a friendly and caring environment.

Our school caters for children of all abilities in a well-disciplined environment and through a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Our staff are highly qualified, experienced and committed to ensuring that every pupil reaches his or her potential.

We currently have over 830 pupils on roll and pride ourselves on being a close-knit community, in which everyone feels valued and involved. This enables children transferring from primary schools to settle in very quickly.

We are proud of the way in which our pupils conduct themselves both in school and outside. Visitors frequently compliment them on their 'confident and courteous behaviour'. During every lesson, pupils' efforts and conduct are monitored by staff.

Commendation stamps are recorded in their planners at the end of a lesson. These are monitored by form tutors in afternoon registration. This programme ensures that pupils who are working well are rewarded; it also indicates those pupils who could try harder.

This reward system keeps parents informed, lesson by lesson, about how their child is progressing. It draws on a support network which involves form tutors, heads of department, heads of year, assistant head teachers, parents and ultimately, the head teacher and school governors.
