Westminster Academy specialises in International Business and Enterprise. It serves a multi-ethnic community in Central London, and at the heart of our approach is the personalised curriculum based on the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile.

At Westminster Academy we believe that education is success. By providing all of our students with a world-class education, we prepare them to be competitive on the international stage. We strive to be the best in every field, as is demonstrated in achieving our ‘Outstanding’ status. As a member of staff at a fast-paced, forward-thinking organisation, you will genuinely be changing lives.

We are looking for an outstanding, organised and innovative curriculum leader to join and lead a dedicated and successful Science department. The department achieves outstanding results, and in 2015 and 2016 it was ranked in the top percentile in terms of value added nationally. The Science Department prides itself in its unique partnerships with Imperial College London and The Royal Society of Medicine which provide exciting opportunities for our students to enrich their learning. At KS3, the Academy are developing the use of technology in the classroom through using Chromebooks. Our KS4 cohorts have benefitted from our forward-thinking and collaborative approach towards adapting to the new GCSE curriculum which has been recognised by exam boards. At KS5, the Academy is proud to be an IB school. We offer IB Biology, Chemistry, Physics and ESS as part of the IB Diploma Programme, while we also offer BTEC Applied Science as part of the IB Career-related Programme.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, highly motivated and an excellent classroom practitioner who is committed to student success and development. There may be additional responsibility for the right candidate. Experience of planning and delivering GCSE lessons is essential, as the job will involve working closely with the Director of Learning, Science to continue developing our existing provision, as well as plan for the new GCSEs for the first sitting in 2018. The willingness to contribute to extra-curricular activities is also desirable. Most importantly, there is a real opportunity to contribute to a team that is making a difference.

What we offer:

  • an innovative educational concept
  • an excellent programme of continuing professional development
  • the opportunity to develop personally and professionally
  • the chance to shape the future of the subject
