Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational teacher of Science to join our school in its commitment to transformational school improvement. The successful candidate will be required to teach students of all abilities at Key Stage 3 and 4, with a particular focus on Physics, and will join an existing department of dedicated and hardworking colleagues. The successful candidate will motivate, challenge and inspire students through quality first teaching, and will be committed to the distinctive ethos of our school: Inspire, Believe, Achieve.

Applicants are expected to share the academy’s high aspirations and expectations for all students and staff. To be considered for this role you will need to be able to:  

• raise attainment and improve the progress of all students in Science

• be an excellent practitioner with the ability to support and engage students to be the very best they can be. 

• ensure that students access the support required to make progress.


In addition to delivering the science curriculum, the faculty organise a range of extra-curricular, raising aspirations and STEM events for students.  We also have close links with our local primary and feeder schools and host primary events, utilising the facilities of our Sponsor college, CCSW.

Pupil numbers for September 2019 have soared and as such we are looking for a new colleague to add value to our growing team, bringing the necessary energy, enthusiasm and commitment to our school as we embark on this exciting upward journey together.

The Oaks Academy, situated in Crewe, Cheshire East, is a coeducational school for children between the ages of 11 and 16. It was previously called the King’s Grove High School before gaining academy status in January 2016. Oaks Academy is member of the Crewe Multi Academy Trust and shares a campus with Gainsborough County Primary School and South Cheshire College. At the moment, there are around 650 students enrolled at the school.

The Oaks Academy prioritises the children's needs. No matter what background the individual comes from in society, there is an opportunity for everyone to excel in their academic life. Students feel safe on the site and are nurtured by friendly members off staff. The curriculum is challenging, but also fun and well-balanced. The hope is for the students to enjoy their time at the school.

Leaders’ evaluations of teaching are accurate and relate closely to the need for teachers to demonstrate that all students make good progress. Leaders and staff have worked successfully to improve their skills and are committed to further improvement for the benefit of all students and the school’s community. Behaviour and safety are good. Students feel safe in school and their behaviour and attitudes to learning have improved since the last inspection. Staff know their students well and relationships are positive. Good levels of care and support are provided for those students whose circumstances may make them vulnerable.”
