Ribblesdale School has served Clitheroe and the local community faithfully for the last 90 years. We’re delighted to have now expanded our age range to become an all-through school welcoming pupils aged 4-16.

Ribblesdale School provides a challenging and nurturing environment for young people; promoting their social, moral, intellectual and personal development and ensuring they are equipped with the skills, knowledge and resilience to be successful in adult life.

At the heart of every aspect of the school is ‘The Ribblesdale Way’ (and the ‘Road to the Ribblesdale Way’ for our primary-aged pupils) which represents our core beliefs and our expectations of both pupils, and of those who work within the school. These key principles, behaviours and values provide a framework for our approach to teaching and learning, our rewards and sanctions policies and the mission and aims of the highly successful personal development programme which shapes Ribblesdale pupils into successful, well-adjusted adults capable of contributing fully and positively to 21st century society and to the global community to which we all belong.

Pastoral care and the personal development of our pupils is at the heart of everything we do at Ribblesdale. Alongside academic success and through the Ribblesdale Way, we want the young people in our care to grow as happy and confident individuals, developing a variety of skills and the resilience needed to thrive when they leave school.

At Ribblesdale School we pride ourselves on our innovative practice, enhancing our pedagogy with 21st century technologies. We allow pupils to access learning whenever and wherever they want, breaking down the walls of the classroom. At Ribblesdale we use technology and a range of other tools in a blended way to enhance the great teaching that takes place.

“Teaching is good. Teachers’ questioning is used well to push students to think hard and express themselves fully. This enhances their oral and communication skills. Students’ behaviour is good. They conduct themselves well in lessons and as they move around the school. Students’ attitudes to learning are positive. They work hard and follow instructions well. They enjoy their learning because activities capture their interest. Students’ attendance is above average and they are always punctual to school and lessons. They arrive to lessons well prepared for learning.”
