Job overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an over-subscribed and aspirational academy.

The Pingle Academy, part of The de Ferrers Trust, lies at the heart of the National Forest area and provides for students in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. We benefit from a wide range of specialist facilities which include extensive provision for sports, a well-equipped Performing Arts Centre, a Learning Support Base, two Autism Resource Centres and a purpose built Sixth Form Centre. Sixth Form students invariably gain places at the university/course/apprenticeship of their choice.

As the academy of choice for our local area, you will be part of a supported community and, most importantly, a warm and friendly environment in which to educate our young people. We offer an employee reward package, which includes car leasing discounts and our own independent travel consultant.  All teaching staff have an iPad.

The culture at The Pingle Academy ensures an aspirational, ambitious and creative place to learn and work. As a result of our popularity with the local community, we are expanding in order to meet demand. The number of students on roll currently is 1,161 and predicted to grow to above 1,300 in the next 3 years. Our aim is to work with parents, carers and families to prepare children for their adult lives in a rapidly changing world. We are a truly inclusive academy and share the responsibility for creating a safe and pleasant place to work. We are proud of our efforts to educate and care for all of our students which are reflected in our mission statement ‘A place for everyone: RESPECT ENGAGE SUCCEED’.

The Science Faculty has 12 qualified teachers with a mix of age and experience. Our staffing has increased due to the increasing student numbers and we continually invest in CPD to ensure teaching is good or better. 2018 GCSE results were our best yet - close to national averages.  The Science Faculty is housed over 9 laboratories and benefits from 2 technicians. In addition to delivering the science curriculum, the faculty organise a range of extra curricular, raising aspirations and STEM events for students. We also have close links with our primary feeder schools.

We provide a broad and stimulating curriculum and set the highest standards of learning and behaviour. By doing so we encourage students to reach for these standards with confidence. We work to remove barriers to learning and achievement so all students can make rapid progress and achieve desired outcomes.  We offer an iPad scheme for students in yr9 and yr13.
