Job overview

John Flamsteed Community School is an aspirational and extremely popular 11-16 school in Denby with easy links to Derby and Nottingham. The school enjoys very good examination results with a record number of students achieving 61% 5A*-C (including English and Maths) in 2015 with 71% and 75% achieving A*-C in English and Maths respectively.

From September 2016, we are delighted to be offering a post-16 provision as part of the Amber Valley Sixth Form partnership. We are therefore looking for a Teacher who can offer inspirational classroom practice for KS3, 4 and A level to all abilities.

The Governors are looking for a highly qualified, talented and inspiring Teacher of Science. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious classroom practitioner to join this highly successful department. We are looking for evidence of high quality classroom practice leading to excellent results. We expect a proven track record of delivering ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ lessons alongside exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge, understanding and experience of successful strategies for improving motivation in learning across the curriculum by expecting the highest possible standards of our students both academically and personally.

The post would suit NQTs or more experienced Teachers.

This is an exciting, inspirational place to work where staff welfare sits alongside the student experience at our core. We are currently in consultation to join the East Midlands Education Trust from 1 April 2016. This will enable us to forge links with Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ and other ‘good’ schools.

Should you be invited to interview, you are most welcome to contact the school to arrange a tour. However, this is not part of the selection process and tours will be offered as part of the interview day.

Closing date: 6 March 2016

Provisional Interview Date: 15 March 2016
