Job overview

September 2019

St Dominic’s School is a special academy in Surrey and provides outstanding education for pupils and students aged 7-19 typically with a primary diagnosis of Speech Language & Communication Needs and/or Autistic Spectrum Condition. The school is located in Hambledon, close to Witley, Milford, Guildford and Godalming.

We are part of Orchard Hill College & Academy Trust (OHC&AT), a specialist Trust with 12 Academies and seven College Centres across London, Surrey and Sussex.

At St Dominic’s we believe passionately in a multi-disciplinary, ‘needs led’ approach to meeting each child’s and young person’s needs, resulting in carefully managed groupings, including specialist intervention work from our in house therapeutic team.

We are looking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic teacher of Science to join our hardworking Science department. The successful candidate will be required to teach pupils and students who have a range of abilities across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.

You must be able to convey the subject to pupils and students, and monitor and assess to ensure the best possible progress. The successful candidate will have a commitment to developing outstanding practice and a passion for making a difference to the education and lives of our young people by motivating and inspiring our pupils and students to be the best that they can be while building positive and supportive relationships.

Applications are welcome from both NQTs and experienced teachers. Experience of working within a SEN setting is desirable, but not essential.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Vicky Perry, Head of Education, by email at vperry@stdominicsschool.org.uk

Please contact Alison Corbett, HR & Recruitment Co-ordinator by phone 01428 684693 or email: acorbett@stdominicsschool.org.uk  for further information or to arrange a visit to the school.

Please note that CV applications will not be considered.

Closing date: Friday 28 June 2019

St Dominic’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
