Job overview

Do you have substantial experience of working with children who experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties? Do you have a willingness to work with students of all ages and abilities?

Les Voies School is a specialist educational provision for students with significant Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. Les Voies became a school in 2013 and has gone from strength to strength with all students leaving the school last year with 5 A*- G GCSEs or equivalent along with significant development in their social and emotional skills and improved wellbeing.

We are looking for an innovative and dynamic secondary teacher with experience of successfully enabling children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties to fulfil their potential. Key will be ensuring that as a school the needs of students with SEMH are met and that they have opportunities commensurate with their peers.

In this role, you will need to plan, prepare and teach Science courses from KS3 and KS4 up to GCSE level with the support of a Learning Support Assistant. Classes are small so you will have the opportunity to make effective use of technology to enhance teaching and learning and will undertake the role of a pastoral tutor for a group of named students. In addition, you should have an understanding of strategies and systems which promote successful learning and positive behaviour.

Benefits

This opportunity to take control of your teaching, mixed with a happy work-life balance and the chance to live on an island that has beautiful beaches, cliff walks, lots of outdoor activity options and island hopping trips, is unrivalled.

We offer excellent relocation packages as well as other enhanced benefits for housing and rental support, participation in our pension schemes and competitive pay above the UK median. Identified pathways for training and continuing professional development are strongly supportive to provide you with a rewarding career.

This post carries an eight-year employment permit. If appointed, you can expect to:

  • Benefit from the stunning scenery and enviable quality of life;
  • Work in a well-resourced school that follows an innovative Bailiwick curriculum based on the English National Curriculum and which has favourable PTRs;
  • Be part of a leading development of ICT in education and be allocated a personal laptop;
  • Receive a generous relocation package to the island, including rent allowance;
  • Enjoy the benefits of more generous tax allowances on an island with no VAT.
