Teacher of Science

                                 TEACHER OF SCIENCE  

                           Required from September 2018  

Salary circa £46,000 - £50,000 depending on the experience   of the successful candidate.

The Governors of this highly successful and over-subscribed mixed 11-18 Specialist Science College are seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and well qualified Science specialist. The successful candidate will also be a person with ideas, drive for excellence, and very good teaching skills. Areas of responsibility to be negotiated on appointment.  

St Gregory’s has been identified by Ofsted as a good school with outstanding Behaviour and Outstanding Leadership and Management; by the DfE as a Lead Behaviour School and by the SSAT as a High Attaining School. In 2017 our Progress 8 Score was +0.72; whilst at post 16 89% of our students achieved A*- C grades and 70% achieved A*- B grades.  

The Science department is well-resourced and consists of 8 laboratories, each with their own computer and interactive whiteboard, ably supported by a large technical team.  The department consistently achieves highly at GCSE (over 80% A*-C / 4+) and all three post 16 Sciences are very popular with results being consistently above the national average. 

 The successful candidate will have

: • A specialism in either Biology or Physics (to A Level)

 The school is firmly committed to CPD and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils. All staff will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.   A respect for the Catholic ethos of the school is essential.
