Job overview

We require a well-qualified teacher to teach Science at all Key Stages from January 2019.  Applicants with specialisms in Biology, Chemistry and Physics are all welcome to apply, but the ability to teach all three through Key Stage 3 would be essential. The Science Faculty achieves excellent results at all levels.  There is a very strong team of teachers with a supportive working atmosphere.  Students are well-motivated and there is good support from parents.  The Sciences are extremely popular A Level subjects and this would be an ideal opportunity to join our team. The School is expanding and is currently building three new state of the art Science laboratories.

The Hemel Hempstead School is a popular, over-subscribed school sited in pleasant grounds in the village of Boxmoor close to national rail and road links to London.  An OfSTED inspection in May 2016 judged that the school continues to be good, stating:  ‘The school’s values of ‘Responsibility, Respect and Relationships’ are at the heart of the atmosphere at The Hemel Hempstead School.  You and your team prepare pupils to be courteous, considerate and capable young people, ready for the adult world’.   There are 186 students in each of Years 7 – 11 and a thriving Sixth Form of more than 230 taking a range of A Level and BTEC qualifications.

The Hemel Hempstead School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form in Hertfordshire, serving students from the age of 11-18. The secondary school, situated in Hemel Hempstead has approximately 1,139 students, including 209 in the Sixth Form. It’s sixth form is part of Partnership – consisting of three secondary schools. 

Formerly The Hemel Hempstead Grammar School, The Hemel Hempstead School opened in 1931, converting to a comprehensive school in 1971. In 2016, the school was identified as good by Ofsted.
