Teacher of Science

About the role:  Longfield Academy has a great opportunity to appoint a talented and inspiring Teacher of Science who will join us for September 2020 (or sooner if available), strengthening our already successful department even further.  Our successful candidate will be passionate about their subject, committed to academic excellence and have the ability to motivate, support and enthuse students. You will join an established department with a friendly, dedicated team who achieve excellent results.

Ideally, a specialism in Chemistry is preferred but not essential as we will consider applications from all science professionals. We can be receptive to teachers joining us at varying stages in their career; whether you are a recently qualified teacher or one who has many years teaching experience, we can ensure that you are developed within the department and wider academy.  Please consult the Job Description by clicking here for further details which are aligned with the National Teaching Standards. 

Working at Longfield Academy: Longfield Academy is a friendly and supportive working environment with innovation and collaboration at the heart of everything we do. The academy opened in September 2008, replacing Axton Chase School. Since then student outcomes have rapidly improved. In May 2018, we were judged to be 'Good' with an 'Outstanding' Sixth Form provision -  a well-deserved accolade. Our school is heavily oversubscribed in Year 7 and has a large and growing Sixth Form. In recent years, Longfield Academy moved into its brand new £25m building with state of the art facilities for learning across all subject areas.

Being a part of Leigh Academies Trust:  As of September 2019, our Trust is comprised of 25 geographically organised academies (11 secondaries, 13 primaries and 1 special) educating over 15,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff.  We also have three further academies in development phase, due to open between September 2020-2021.  The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway.
