Job overview

Leicester Grammar School is one of the UK's top-performing co-educational HMC independent day schools.

We are seeking to employ an inspiring and enthusiastic Teacher of Science from September 2021, who will teach primarily in Key Stage 3, but also to our Senior school setting Year 6 ‘Prep’ class and potentially at Key Stage 4 and even 5. The timetable is likely to include general Science (taught in Years 6 and 7) as well as Biology, Chemistry and Physics (taught as separate subjects in Years 8 and 9, the latter of which will include teaching some GCSE content). The ability to teach at least one of Biology, Chemistry or Physics to GCSE examination in Year 11 is likely to be an advantage. This role has arisen due to the retirement of a long-standing colleague. It would suit an experienced or newly qualified teacher or a well-qualified graduate who is keen to train for their PGCE whilst at the school. Applications are invited from those interested in a significant part-time role (currently anticipated at 0.6 - 0.8 FTE) or a full-time role where candidates are able to offer flexibility and/ or contribute to other aspects of school life.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please visit www.lgs-senior.org.uk/vacancies  for an information pack and application form.

A completed application form and curriculum vitae, accompanied by a covering letter addressed to Mr John Watson (Headmaster and Principal of Leicester Grammar School Trust), should reach the school as soon as possible, and no later than 9am on Thursday 13th May 2021; interviews will take place shortly thereafter. Please state clearly whether you would like to be considered for a part-time or full-time role, or both.

Interviews may be held at any stage after applications are received; interested candidates are therefore advised to apply as soon as possible. We reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than the specified deadline, if a suitable candidate is found.

Applications should be emailed to recruitment@leicestergrammar.org.uk

There is no need to send a hard copy at this stage.

Leicester Grammar School Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and this is reflected in its recruitment procedures. Successful candidates for posts are required to undergo an enhanced DBS disclosure.
