The Altius Trust is a multi-academy educational trust with an ongoing commitment to opening and running academies with a high level of achievement in the Manchester area. Our Trust Partners include some of the most successful and innovative companies in the UK, all of whom have a strong commitment to Manchester. Their involvement in the Trust underlines their commitment to developing the young people of the city, and their recognition that to recruit excellent leaders from local families they have to be committed to their development prior to them becoming employees.

The flagship school of the Trust, Manchester Enterprise Academy (MEA) in Wythenshawe, was winner of Secondary School of the Year (2015-16) and Healthy Living Award (2016-17) at the MEN Schools Awards, as well as being shortlisted for a national TES award in the category of ‘Community Collaboration’ for our mentoring project with Lloyds Banking Group. MEA was described in a glowing 2015 Ofsted report as ‘A vibrant community that treats you like family (and) a good school that has improved students’ achievement significantly year on year’.

MEA Central opened to 210 Year 7 students in September 2017 and will grow year on year until we are full in 2022. It currently has Year 7 and Year 8. We are defined by our mission, ‘A Fantastic Future for All', we care about helping students to be their best and know the only way to do this is through academic achievement, character development and strong pastoral support.

As a Trust, we are committed to recruiting talented and passionate staff who are central to all of our achievements and are the driving force behind our dedication to provide a “Fantastic Future for All”.  Ofsted stated, “Staff are extremely positive about all aspects of the school and are making a substantial difference to the lives of the young people.”

The induction of new colleagues and their continual professional development are strengths of the Trust.  As strategic partners of Teach Manchester, Manchester Schools’ Alliance Teaching School we are able to provide unique leadership opportunities for our students and staff.  We provide high quality coaching for all teachers to develop their practice and we offer a bespoke programme for middle and aspiring senior leaders.

Our vision of a fantastic future for all our students is easy to understand but complex to achieve as the future evolves so rapidly around us. Our students have to adapt in order to build themselves a secure and resilient future.   Our vision underpins all we do, and our starting point is excellent academic results.
